POLARIS Privacy Policy

Last updated: 08 July 2026

This policy explains how Sirius Geopolitics ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information when you use Polaris, our geopolitics intelligence platform. It should be read together with the Sirius Geopolitics Privacy Policy. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By creating a Polaris account, you agree to the handling of your personal information as described here.

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and a password (stored only in an encrypted, hashed form, we never see or store your actual password).

  • Authentication data: email verification status and multi-factor authentication settings.

  • Your preferences: the topics you follow and the keyword alerts you set.

  • Subscription and billing information: your subscription status and billing records. Card payments are processed by Stripe, and we do not collect or store your full card details on our systems.

  • Technical data: basic information created when you use the app, such as log and device data used to keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve advertising.

2. How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • create and manage your account and authenticate your logins;

  • deliver your personalised briefing, explainers and alerts;

  • process your subscription and free trial, and manage billing;

  • send you transactional emails such as email verification and account notices;

  • keep the service secure, diagnose problems, and improve it; and

  • meet our legal obligations.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Polaris. They process your information only to provide their service to us, under their own security and privacy obligations:

  • Supabase — database, authentication and hosting for your account and preferences.

  • Stripe — subscription and payment processing.

  • Resend — sending transactional emails (such as your verification email).

Some of these providers, and the servers they use, may be located outside Australia. Where your information is stored or processed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

We choose Australian or Asia-Pacific data regions where practical.

We do not disclose your personal information to any other third parties except where required or authorised by law.

4. Security

We take the security of your information seriously. Measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, hashed passwords, multi-factor authentication, database-level access controls, and restricting access to authorised systems only. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately if something goes wrong.

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

5. Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep certain records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;

  • Correct it if it is inaccurate or out of date;

  • Delete your account and associated personal information; and

  • Make a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these, email us at polaris@siriusgeopolitics.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.

7. Children

Polaris is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be notified to you where appropriate.
